In Khanapur, the Pembi block of Nirmal district received a national Bronze Medal for its outstanding performance. This recognition was presented during a ceremony in Hyderabad on Saturday. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma handed the award to District Collector Abhilasha Abhinav.
The event was attended by State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao, SERP CEO Divya Devarajan, Additional Collector Faizan Ahmad, and other notable figures.
From the 500 blocks chosen by NITI Aayog, Pembi ranked fourth. This achievement acknowledges its excellence in areas such as health, nutrition, agriculture, education, and infrastructure.
Abhinav expressed pride in Pembi’s national ranking, stating it reflects the community’s hard work. She emphasized that Pembi has become an inspirational model for others.
Under the Sampoorna Abhiyan initiative, Pembi reached 100% in registering pregnant women, diabetes screening, and providing supplementary nutrition. The block also achieved 70% in distributing soil health cards and 94% in granting loans to women’s self-help groups, according to the Collector.
