Hyderabad: On Friday, Cyberabad’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement, known as EAGLE, arrested 14 more people. This follows a decoy operation that began on July 12. So far, 28 individuals have been detained near the HDFC Bank in Gachibowli. The operation aims to dismantle a drug network involving over 100 people. The latest arrests happened when suspects came to buy ganja from a supplier based in Maharashtra.
The people arrested include Praneeth (Event Manager), Akshith (Sales Executive), Sandeep (Developer), Sravan (Consultant), Khushter (Software Professional), Umamaheswar (Businessman), Kireeti (Receptionist), Sathwik (IT Specialist), Manish (Analyst), Sunil (HR Manager), Aditya (Businessman), Yashaswi (Medical Officer), Kirit (Businessman), and Karthik (Job Seeker).
EAGLE, using intelligence reports, identified a repeat offender from Maharashtra involved in selling ganja in the Gachibowli area. This person has been visiting the HDFC Bank, Cyberabad Branch, to sell drugs, mainly to IT and private sector employees.
The suspect reportedly carries 5 kilograms of ganja, divided into 100 packets of 50 grams each. Each packet is sold for Rs 3,000. He uses WhatsApp to send coded messages to clients about his location and the availability of drugs.
CH Roopesh, SP of EAGLE, mentioned that on July 12, several plainclothes officers were deployed around the HDFC Bank in Gachibowli. These teams were set up to catch people involved in drug consumption.
