Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) has detained two foreign nationals residing illegally in India with expired visas. Authorities are working on deporting them to prevent any activities that could harm national security.
The individuals arrested are Aful Clement David (29) and Lazarus Chinwenmeri Favour (19), both from Nigeria.
David arrived in India on a business visa intending to export clothes to Nigeria. In 2022, Chandigarh’s Manimajra Police detained him for cheating and he spent six months in Model Jail, Chandigarh. After his release, he stayed with relatives in Delhi without a job. In July 2025, he traveled to Bangalore with his friend Lazarus to distribute drugs. Lazarus came to India on a student visa to study Science and Technology.
The duo later moved to Hyderabad, where they were found acting suspiciously in Tolichowki and subsequently arrested. During questioning, they couldn’t justify their actions, and no drugs were discovered in their possession.
The DCP of Task Force/HNEW stated that cooperation with FRRO helped verify their identities and visa statuses. David’s visa expired in 2019, indicating he was overstaying. Lazarus had a valid visa until October 2025, but instead of studying, he was involved in illegal activities with drug dealers.
H-NEW is coordinating with FRRO to deport them promptly. The DCP emphasized the need for their quick deportation to prevent any potential involvement in drug trafficking.
