Police chief organizes meeting for smooth Ganesh festival

Hyderabad: On August 14, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner CV Anand led a meeting at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre. The focus was on preparing for the upcoming Ganesh Navratri celebrations.

CV Anand asked ‘mandapam’ managers to follow court rules on idol immersion. He emphasized giving police details about their idols for security and CCTV monitoring. He highlighted the need for volunteers to help with crowd and traffic control. Additionally, he sought the Ganesh Utsava Samiti’s cooperation regarding DJ systems, citing health concerns for seniors and children.

Members of the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti and Khairatabad Bada Ganesh Utsav Samiti requested repairs for potholes, continuous street lighting, and sufficient drinking water for devotees. They also asked for vehicles to transport idols and the removal of tree branches blocking processions.

In response, GHMC Commissioner R V Karnan promised to provide baby ponds and cranes for immersion. He mentioned that 160 special action teams are ready to tackle pending issues, and facilities like ambulances, fire brigades, mobile toilets, and extra power transformers will be in place. Metro Rail officials announced additional trips until midnight.

Hyderabad Collector Harichandana assured that medical teams would be stationed at all mandapams. Joint CP Traffic Joel Davis confirmed that staff and officers would work around the clock to maintain smooth traffic flow. TGICCC Director V B Kamalasan Reddy stated that CCTV cameras from all three commissionerates are linked for ongoing surveillance. As Vinayaka Chavithi and Milad un Nabi coincide this year, CV Anand urged cooperation to ensure peaceful celebrations. He stressed that Hyderabad City Police are implementing strict security for the festival.
