MANCHERIAL: Police from the Ramagundam Commissionerate have taken a significant step by finding and giving back 120 stolen and lost mobile phones to their owners. Police Commissioner Amber Kishore Jha handed the phones to the respective owners at a special event held at his office on Wednesday.

The recovery was achieved using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, a tool from the Department of Telecommunications designed to trace and block lost or stolen phones. The Commissioner mentioned that there have been over 6,683 complaints filed through CEIR, resulting in around 2,020 phones being recovered and returned. Recently, teams from CCS and IT Cell retrieved another 120 phones.

The CEIR system effectively blocks phones, preventing their use on any network in India, which helps reduce theft by making stolen phones useless. Commissioner Jha encouraged everyone to report lost or stolen phones immediately on the CEIR portal and at local police stations.

The event included senior officers like Additional DCP Admin C Raju, ACP Mallareddy, ACP Srinivas, and teams from CCS, IT Cell, and special branches. Many people thanked the police for their efforts, describing the initiative as a crucial help in their lives.
