Hyderabad: The city’s Cyber Crime Unit has warned the public about a new wave of online scams. These scams use fake Indo-Pak conflict news to trick people into clicking dangerous links or downloading harmful files.

Scammers are spreading fake news through WhatsApp, emails, and various social media platforms. These messages often contain videos, images, or links that claim to show “exclusive” or “leaked” content related to the ongoing situation between India and Pakistan.

But authorities say these files are not what they seem. Many carry malware, spyware, or lead to phishing websites designed to steal your personal data. Some even come as .exe or .apk files, which can infect your device when downloaded.

The Cyber Crime Wing urges everyone to stay alert. Do not forward or click on messages claiming to show sensitive or rare footage about military actions or border activity. Even if the message comes from someone you know, it could still be harmful.

Police advise using fact-checking tools before trusting or sharing anything online. If you’re unsure, check official news sources or government websites for real updates.

During tense situations like this, it’s important not to spread unverified content. Doing so can cause panic and help cybercriminals succeed in their attacks.

Stay safe. Think before you click.
