Gadwal: Concerns Over Tirumala Laddu Adulteration
Chakravarti Swamy, President of the Dhupa Deepa Naivedya Archaka Sangham in Jogulamba Gadwal District, raised concerns about the recent issue of adulteration in the famous Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) laddus. He emphasized that such an incident could not have happened without the involvement of the TTD’s Executive Officer, the temple administration, and even members of the state’s cabinet and endowments department. Swamy noted that adulterating laddus is a serious matter and questioned the growing influence of the Endowments Department over Hindu temples.
Swamy criticized the government for focusing only on temples that generate large amounts of revenue, leaving thousands of smaller temples with no income neglected. He mentioned that many of these temples are unable to provide basic offerings like incense, lamps, and food due to a lack of funds. Swamy also questioned why only Hindu temples are managed by the Endowments Department in a secular country, asking why churches and mosques are not under similar control.
In rural areas, Swamy expressed concern that many temples do not conduct regular rituals, which he believes is leading Hindu youth toward harmful habits like alcohol and drug addiction. He urged parents to teach their children devotion and religious values from a young age and recommended that families visit temples at least once a week to receive blessings. According to Swamy, regular temple visits could help guide children on the right path and contribute to building a better society.
To address these issues, Swamy has launched the “Mana Gudi Mana Dharma” (Our Temple, Our Religion) program in Alampur Mandal, Jogulamba Gadwal District. The program aims to raise awareness among Hindu families about their religious duties. As part of the initiative, weekly gatherings will be held at different temples, featuring collective worship, devotional songs, and bhajans to help revive Hindu values. Swamy called on every Hindu, at the village, state, and national levels, to take responsibility for promoting and protecting Sanatana Dharma.
Pulikal Veeresh and Chagadona Satish, along with others, participated in the program to support this cause.
