Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, said on Wednesday that inviting President Droupadi Murmu to the inauguration of the new Parliament building would not be an insult to her position. The opposition party suggested that since the President has important duties related to Parliament, she should inaugurate the building instead of the Prime Minister. Rahul Gandhi emphasized the importance of following constitutional values in building the Parliament.

Nineteen opposition parties, including Congress, Left, AAP, and TMC, have decided to skip the inauguration ceremony because they feel that investing in a new building is not necessary when Parliament has lost its democratic values. On May 28, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the new Parliament building after being invited by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
