Rangareddy District is experiencing a mix of intense heat and early monsoon showers. While most areas are still under a dry spell, a few mandals have started to see light rainfall, offering some relief from the scorching temperatures.
On May 6, the district Collectorate reported that 4 out of 27 mandals received rainfall. Rajendranagar recorded the highest, with 11.4 mm of rain. Other areas such as Serilingampally got 7.0 mm, Hayathnagar saw 6.8 mm, Abdullapur received 4.8 mm, and Gandipet had 3.0 mm.
These mandals, known for their dense greenery, are among the first to get rain as the southwest monsoon approaches.
However, the rest of the district continues to face severe heatwaves and dry conditions. Areas like Shankerpalle, Balapur, Ibrahimpatnam, Manchal, Yacharam, Mudgul, Amangal, Talakondlapalle, Keshampet, Kadthal, Kandukur, Maheshwaram, Chevella, Kothur, Nandigama, Farooqnagar, and Kondurg remain among the most affected.
Rainfall data shows that 9 mandals received zero rainfall, while 18 mandals had between 0.1 mm and 15.5 mm. Despite the uneven distribution, 11 mandals received above-average rainfall, and 16 saw normal levels for the season.
So far this year, the district has recorded a cumulative monthly rainfall of 843.5 mm, compared to 725.8 mm during the same time last year. This indicates a slight improvement in overall rainfall, though many regions still await significant relief from the heat.
