Munugodu: Supporters of local MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy are upset as he was not given a ministerial role once again. Earlier, he was not included in the PCC Committees, but his followers hoped he would join the cabinet this time. His name was missing from the minister list.
Rajgopal Reddy wanted a cabinet position, aiming to become the Home Minister. He mentioned that a senior leader from his district was blocking him intentionally. This situation has reignited talks about internal party politics.
In the undivided Nalgonda district, two Reddy community leaders, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy (his brother) and Uttam Kumar Reddy, are already in the cabinet. To avoid criticism of regional and caste bias, the party high command decided against adding another leader from the same group and area.
Rajgopal Reddy, an experienced politician who served as MLA, MLC, and MP, returned to Congress from BJP before recent elections, along with former MP Vivek Venkatswamy. Both were reportedly promised ministerial roles by Congress. Vivek became a minister, but Rajgopal was left out, leading to questions within the party. The presence of two ministers from the same community and area worked against him. Additionally, a letter from senior Congress leader Jana Reddy, advocating for representation from Ranga Reddy or Hyderabad districts, may have blocked Rajgopal’s appointment. Despite past criticisms, he supported party leadership and was active, expecting a portfolio like Home or Education. His absence from the final list dashed his hopes.
Rajgopal Reddy, feeling disappointed, has not been available to party members. Rumors suggest he might be offered the Chief Whip role or become Working President of the party. The Chief Whip position remains vacant, and it’s uncertain if he will accept this role or choose a different political direction.
