Hyderabad: The Congress party is preparing for upcoming elections in Maharashtra, but finalizing an agreement with its INDIA alliance partners is still in progress. The elections are expected to be challenging for Congress because the political situation varies across different regions.
To strengthen its efforts, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has asked several leaders from Telangana to help in the Maharashtra campaign. Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, state ministers, as well as Congress MPs and MLAs, have been asked to take part. Some of these leaders will also be sent to Jharkhand for campaigning. Additionally, they will campaign in Wayanad, where AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is contesting a by-election.
As a result, the administration in Telangana might slow down since many top leaders and ministers will be away until November 18. Key leaders like Irrigation and Civic Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy and Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka have been given important roles in Maharashtra. Uttam Kumar Reddy will oversee the Marathwada region, while Seethakka will monitor the campaign in northern Maharashtra. Bhatti Vikramarka will be the senior observer for the Jharkhand assembly elections.
Revanth Reddy is also sharing his experience with the Maharashtra Congress team. He is offering advice on how to run an effective campaign, based on what worked during the Telangana elections. Reddy plans to meet with Maharashtra Congress leaders to discuss strategies, including how they can use social media to reach voters, explain their promises, and counter the opposition’s arguments.
The INDIA alliance, of which Congress is a part, will face stiff competition from the BJP-led NDA alliance. The BJP’s campaign will be supported by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), which will focus on managing the elections at the ground level.
In the meantime, Bhatti Vikramarka has already met with Congress leaders in Jharkhand. He shared insights on how the six guarantees promised by the Telangana Congress impacted the elections there. A group of Telangana ministers will also join senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge to campaign in Maharashtra, particularly in areas with a large Telugu-speaking population, such as Mumbai.
