Hyderabad: Telangana’s Chief Minister, A Revanth Reddy, expressed strong confidence that the Congress party will remain in power for at least one more term. He sent a warning to the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) leaders, stating that Congress party workers would not sit quietly if provoked. He cautioned that their kindness should not be mistaken for weakness.
While speaking at a grand event at Gandhi Bhavan, where he handed over the charge of PCC President to B Mahesh Kumar Goud, Revanth Reddy criticized the BRS leaders. He mentioned that they had plans to harm Congress workers and even tried to set traps for them. He said, “Before they arrived at our place, we managed to handle the situation. Now they are complaining. Should we have waited for them? Our party workers don’t usually get involved in such matters, but if they think our kindness is weakness, we won’t stay silent. We will fight back if pushed,” referencing a recent incident involving MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy.
The CM also listed several schemes initiated by the State government, particularly highlighting the fulfillment of the farm loan waiver promise. He reassured farmers with loans over Rs 2 lakh not to worry. “We deposited Rs 18,000 crore in the bank accounts of 23 lakh farmers, bringing relief to them. For those who have loans over Rs 2 lakh, once you pay your dues, the government will deposit Rs 2 lakh in your account immediately,” he explained. He also questioned why BRS leader Harish Rao had not resigned from his MLA post, as he had promised if the farm loans were not waived by August 15.
Additionally, the CM discussed the State’s efforts in promoting sports. He mentioned the proposed Sports University and said that Telangana would aim for gold medals in the next Olympics. This, he said, would be made possible through a recent agreement with a Korean sports university.
Revanth Reddy also commented on the Congress party’s future, calling the victory in the 2023 Assembly elections a “semi-final.” He stated that the “final” would be in 2029 when he hopes to see Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Minister of India. He added that winning 15 MP seats in the next Lok Sabha elections would mark a significant victory for the party.
