Rising Waters at Bhadrachalam: Second Warning Issued as Water Levels Hit 46.40 ft

The Godavari river in Bhadrachalam is experiencing high water levels. The flood flow has reached 10,68,602 cusecs, and the water level is at 46.40 feet. Officials have issued a second hazard warning and may issue another if the water exceeds 48 feet. In response, the Taliperu project’s gates in Bhadradri Kothagudem district are being lifted, releasing 62,932 cusecs of water.

Additionally, the Illandu division is facing flooding. Rivers are overflowing, and several streams, including Kinnerasani, Jalleru, Mallanna, and Seven Melika, are flowing in Gundala and Allapalli mandals. Thirteen villages have been affected by the floods in this region.

In Mahbubnagar district, the Priyadarshini Jurala project is also overflowing. The water level has reached 317.210 meters out of its full capacity of 318.516 meters. The project’s water storage is at 7.115 tmc out of a capacity of 9.657 tmc, with an inflow of 1,42,000 cusecs and an outflow of 1,33,497 cusecs. To manage the situation, authorities have opened 27 gates.
