Hyderabad – The South Central Railway (SCR) recently held a high-level meeting to discuss ways to improve the safety and security of train services across the region.
General Manager Arun Kumar Jain led the session, focusing on protecting passengers and strengthening safety protocols. He stressed the need for increased presence of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at key locations to ensure passenger safety.
During the meeting, officials discussed the urgent need to install CCTV cameras at sensitive and high-risk areas across the railway zone. These cameras will help monitor activities and prevent potential threats.
The review also included a close look at safety measures within the Mechanical, Engineering, and Signal & Telecommunications Departments. Jain assessed the readiness of safety equipment like smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, ensuring they are available and functional on all trains and platforms.
He also highlighted the importance of being extra cautious at railway crossings and track points. To reduce risks, Jain instructed the team to launch safety drives involving all staff responsible for passenger and operational safety.
This effort by SCR is part of a larger plan to boost railway safety, minimize accidents, and build a secure travel environment for everyone using the rail network.
