The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) schedules bank holidays differently for each state. In September 2024, there are two major holidays in Telangana: Ganesh Chaturthi and Milad-un-Nabi. Additionally, the holiday list for the month includes four Sundays, as well as the second and fourth Saturdays.

For most of the month, banks in Telangana will be open, except on the specific holidays and weekends mentioned. Generally, banks only observe gazetted holidays across the country.

    Guidance for Customers

It is important to know that central government holidays are applicable to all banks, whether they are public or private sector. However, the exact dates may vary from one bank to another, and there may also be additional state-specific bank holidays.

Customers are advised to check with their respective bank branches to confirm the exact dates of holidays in their state.

The RBI classifies holidays into three types: Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act and Real-Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks Closing of Accounts. Despite these holidays, ATMs and mobile banking services will remain available for customer use.
