Sitaram Yechury, the national general secretary of the CPM, recently spoke at a joint meeting of the CPM and CPI parties held in Hyderabad. Yechury stressed the importance of unity between the two parties, stating that they have a responsibility to counter the anti-people Central government. He praised the decision of the two left parties to work together in Telangana.
Yechury also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of carrying out false publicity using public money. He alleged that Modi’s claims of development were only in his words and not on the ground. Yechury pointed out that none of the past Prime Ministers had indulged in such a false promotional campaign. He further claimed that democracy was being butchered every day under PM Narendra Modi’s rule, citing the recent parliament session as an example.
The joint meeting was attended by several other high-profile members of the CPM and CPI parties, including BV Raghavulu and TammineniVeerabhadram from the CPM politburo, D. Raja and Dr K. Narayana from the CPI national leadership, and Syed Aziz Pasha and Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao from the State leadership.
