Hyderabad: As climate change progresses, Sri Konda Lakshman Telangana Horticultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Danda Rajireddy urges a focus on horticultural farming. On his visit to the Horticultural College in Mojerla and the farms in Madanapuram on Monday, he stressed growing crops that can withstand drought.

He plans to set up a research center to study climate change effects on crops and develop adaptive farming methods. Dr. Rajireddy encouraged farmers to cultivate drought-resistant plants like amla, tamarind, jamun, sapota, karonda, soapnut, pomegranate, custard apple, and drumstick.

He suggested combining fruit orchards with intercrops, particularly in water-scarce areas. He highlighted the need for farm ponds to ensure water supply during droughts and the importance of using local materials for mulching to keep soil moist.
