In Hyderabad, the disqualification of BRS legislator Danam Nagender is still uncertain, with Speaker Gaddam Prasad promising to investigate the issue. The BRS legislators submitted a petition against Nagender, who recently joined the Congress, at the Speaker’s residence on Monday. They stated that the Speaker assured them he would look into the matter.
MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, speaking to reporters after the meeting, explained that they demanded Nagender’s disqualification in accordance with the Anti-Defection Law and the Constitution. He emphasized that action against Nagender must be taken within three months, as per a Supreme Court ruling. Reddy also criticized CM Revanth Reddy for his previous remarks about defection and questioned Nagender’s decision to switch parties.
Party senior leader B Vinod Kumar expressed confidence that Nagender would be disqualified, citing the Supreme Court’s directive to promptly decide on such cases. He emphasized the importance of upholding the Anti-Defection Law and respecting the Constitution. Kumar also criticized Congress leaders for supporting defections, contradicting the principles of Rajiv Gandhi.
Kumar addressed questions about money seized from Pratima Multiplex, asserting that the management of the multiplex, owned by his relatives, should respond to such inquiries.
