Telangana, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is aiming for a $3 trillion economy by 2047. Over 18 months, since 2024-25, the state attracted more than 3 lakh crore in investments.
Duddilla Sridhar Babu, the state’s IT and Industries Minister, has been crucial in boosting the economy. At the WEF Davos 2025, Telangana secured investments of 1,78,950 crore, a record since the state’s formation. Companies are drawn by Telangana’s business-friendly environment and innovative growth strategies.
Major firms have invested in manufacturing and services. Amazon is expanding data centers, while Sun Petrochemicals and Megha Engineering focus on renewable energy. Skyroot Aerospace plans a rocket facility, and Phoenix will design aircraft interiors in Telangana.
The state has established 70 new GCCs (Global Capability Centers) using technologies like AI, cybersecurity, quantum computing, and data analytics.
During a visit to Japan, the team secured Rs 12,062 crore in investments, creating over 30,000 jobs. Partnerships with Marubeni, NTT Data, and Toshiba were established, focusing on AI data centers. Sridhar Babu highlighted the favorable investment climate in Telangana.
At the Bio Asia Summit in Hyderabad, known as a life sciences hub, investments of 5,000 crore were made in life sciences and AI-driven healthcare. Amgen invested $200 million in Hyderabad. Agreements were signed with Queensland universities, the NHS, and pharma companies.
The Future City project, planned by the Future City Development Authority, is set for the Srisailam highway. It will be India’s first net-zero smart city, featuring a Green Pharma city and an AI City. The Global AI Summit 2024 saw 26 MoUs signed to establish Telangana as an “AI Hub.”
Minister Sridhar Babu and his team are effectively attracting investments and international collaborations. The government plans to train 2 lakh AI engineers in two years and establish an AI university.
Sridhar Babu, previously the Minister for Higher Education, is enhancing education quality. The Young India Skill University initiative involves collaborations with foreign countries to update education policies. The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association signed an MOU to boost the semiconductor industry and student skills.
Telangana aims to become the “Skill Capital.” Initiatives like Indira Mahila Shakti empower women with free sewing machines and WE hubs for women-led businesses. The DEET platform helps youth in tier-2 and tier-3 cities find jobs. MSME parks will be set up at the district level.
The state’s bold goal is a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047. Sridhar Babu’s innovative vision is driving growth, skill development, and employment, positioning Telangana as a leader in education, IT, and industries.
