Jogulamba Gadwal: A special program was held today at the District Tuberculosis Control Office as part of the national “TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” aiming to make India free of tuberculosis. The event was led by Dr. S.K. Siddappa, the District Medical and Health Officer, with supervision from Dr. G. Raju, the District TB Program Officer.
The main goal was to screen people at high risk for tuberculosis and related health problems. This initiative aims to find TB cases early and provide timely treatment, supporting the Government of India’s target to eliminate TB by 2025.
The screening focused on certain high-risk groups, such as those over 60 years old, underweight individuals, smokers, alcohol consumers, people with a history of TB, and those living in high-risk areas, especially with conditions like hypertension and diabetes.
Several health services were offered during the screening, including the Cy-TB Test, chest X-rays, TB sputum tests, blood pressure checks, and blood tests. These tests help detect TB infections and assess general health conditions that increase vulnerability to TB.
The program saw active participation from many health officials and medical staff: Dr. S.K. Siddappa, Dr. G. Raju, Dr. Abhinesh (RMO, District Hospital), Sadiq (TB Program Coordinator), K. Narendra (Senior Tuberculosis Laboratory Supervisor), Krishnayya (Health Assistant), lab technicians, ANMs from Upper PHC, and ASHA workers. Their teamwork ensured the program ran smoothly and raised awareness about TB prevention, early detection, and treatment in the district.
This effort is a significant step toward eliminating TB in Jogulamba Gadwal by reaching vulnerable groups and bringing healthcare services to them. The health department plans to carry out similar programs in other areas in the coming weeks.
