Aadhaar centre operators across Telangana report receiving unusual email alerts indicating repeated login attempts, mostly occurring after midnight. The operators are concerned, as the alerts suggest that unknown individuals are making multiple attempts to access their accounts using biometric credentials.
Operators from districts like Nizamabad, Hyderabad, Khammam, Nalgonda, Karimnagar, and Medak are receiving these alerts. Some of them reported receiving more than 20 email alerts between midnight and dawn, with some messages indicating a successful login, raising hacking concerns.
Normally, operators receive a single email confirmation when they log in. However, the recent surge in alerts indicating multiple login attempts, sometimes dozens within a few hours, has alarmed the operators.
With Aadhaar now linked to various services, including bank accounts, operators find these suspicious login attempts worrying. One operator stated, “We are unsure if it’s a technical glitch or something more serious.” He urged the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to clarify the issue.
In Hyderabad, operator Mukesh reported receiving alerts indicating 200 failed login attempts over six days. Srikant, an operator in Gandhari mandal of Kamareddy district, claimed to receive about 30 such emails daily for a month. Siddu from Maldakal mandal in Jogulamba Gadwal district received 31 alerts in a single night. Jagam Srinivas from Penuballi mandal in Khammam district said similar alerts were coming for 15 days but have now stopped.
Concerned by this unusual activity, the operators have submitted a written complaint to the MeeSeva Commissioner on October 24. The Commissioner assured them that the matter would be referred to senior UIDAI officials for a thorough inquiry.
