Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, has announced plans to make Hyderabad a hub for technical skills. This move is aimed at positioning the state as a role model for the country. The announcement was made during the inauguration of a training program for the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of creating job opportunities for the youth.
Speaking at Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFU), CM Revanth Reddy pointed out that unemployment in Telangana has risen over the past decade. He expressed concern that the lack of employment opportunities has led many young people to turn to substance abuse. In response, the government has launched programs to provide training and career opportunities to combat this issue.
“The increasing trend of drug usage, even among engineering students, is a serious threat,” Revanth Reddy said. He emphasized that proper guidance and job opportunities are essential to address this problem.
The Chief Minister also outlined several initiatives designed to develop skills and boost employment. These include partnerships with Tata Technologies to transform ITIs (Industrial Training Institutes) into Advanced Training Centers (ATCs). Additionally, the government is setting up Young India Skill and Sports Universities to equip the youth with essential skills and prevent them from falling into addiction.
Revanth Reddy criticized the lack of qualified teaching staff in many engineering colleges, which he said has resulted in students graduating without basic knowledge. He warned that colleges failing to improve their teaching standards could have their licenses canceled.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s global importance, the Chief Minister mentioned that institutions like ISB, IIT, NALSAR, and Osmania University have attracted multinational companies to the city. He also noted the successes of Hyderabad’s prominent alumni, such as Ajay Banga, Satya Nadella, and Shantanu Narayen, who have become CEOs of major global companies.
In addition to technical training, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for better sports facilities. He noted that while smaller countries like South Korea win multiple Olympic medals, India struggles to secure even one gold. To address this, the government will establish the Young India Sports Academy next year, providing better support for aspiring athletes.
CM Revanth Reddy concluded his speech by saying, “We are working tirelessly to shape the future of Telangana’s youth and will make the state a role model for the country in the coming years.”
