The Telangana Cabinet has cleared a major infrastructure project worth ₹7,345.12 crore for the Phase I development of the Musi Riverfront, covering a 21-kilometre stretch. The ambitious project also includes the creation of 147 new posts to support the development and maintenance of the riverfront area. The decision marks a significant step towards transforming the urban landscape and improving the ecological health of the river.
In a significant policy move, the Cabinet expressed opposition to the Centre’s recently enacted law, terming it against the federal spirit of governance. However, to ensure that MGNREGS workers in the state are not adversely affected, the Cabinet approved the implementation of the law in Telangana from July 1, 2026. The state government has decided to challenge the legislation in the Supreme Court and plans to raise the matter in Parliament to voice its concerns over federal autonomy.
The Cabinet has expanded the scope of welfare schemes in educational institutions across the state. Breakfast, milk, and midday meals will now be provided not only to students but also to teachers, lecturers, and staff members. This decision will benefit approximately 1.5 lakh personnel working in government schools and colleges, ensuring better nutrition and working conditions for the education workforce.
To strengthen healthcare infrastructure, the Cabinet approved the creation of 6,278 posts for TIMS hospitals located at Sanath Nagar, LB Nagar, Alwal, and Warangal. The sanctioned positions include 1,494 regular posts, 549 contract positions, and 4,235 outsourced positions. This recruitment drive aims to improve healthcare delivery and ensure adequate staffing at these major medical facilities.
In a move to boost warehousing capacity, the Cabinet approved the allotment of 60 acres of land in Warangal and Rangareddy districts to the Telangana State Warehousing Corporation (TGSWC). The land will be used for constructing modern warehouse facilities to support agricultural storage and distribution networks across the state.
The Cabinet also approved land allotments for educational institutions under central government schemes. Two Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas will be established in Mahabubnagar and Suryapet districts, while a Kendriya Vidyalaya will be set up in Jagtial district. These institutions will provide quality education opportunities to students in these regions and expand access to centrally-funded educational facilities.
