The Telangana Government has announced a major administrative restructuring by splitting the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) into three separate municipal bodies. This reorganization aims to improve civic administration through better governance and decentralization of power across the state capital.

The newly formed structure divides Hyderabad’s civic administration into GHMC, Cyberabad Municipal Corporation, and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation. Each corporation will function independently with its own designated zones and administrative leadership to ensure more efficient delivery of civic services to residents.

The restructured Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation will now oversee six zones including Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, Charminar, Golconda, Khairatabad, and Secunderabad. R.V. Karnan has been appointed as the Commissioner of GHMC to lead the administration of these zones.

The newly created Cyberabad Municipal Corporation will manage three zones covering the western and northwestern parts of the city. These zones include Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur. G. Srijana has been designated as the Commissioner of Cyberabad Municipal Corporation.

The third entity, Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation, will administer three zones in the eastern part of the city. The zones under its jurisdiction are Malkajgiri, Uppal, and LB Nagar. T. Vinay Krishna Reddy will serve as the Commissioner of this newly formed corporation.

This administrative reorganization marks a significant shift in how civic services will be managed in Hyderabad. The division is expected to enable faster decision-making and more focused attention on local issues specific to each zone. The move comes as part of the government’s efforts to streamline urban governance in the rapidly expanding metropolitan area.

Each of the three corporations will now have the authority to address civic issues within their respective jurisdictions independently. The decentralization is designed to bring administration closer to citizens and improve the efficiency of municipal services across different parts of the city.
