A major step has been taken in a 100-acre land dispute between the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and some private individuals. The High Court has ordered the police to investigate fake copies of a court judgment that have caused confusion in the case.
A bench of Justice T. Vinod Kumar and Justice P. Sreesudha said that there is early evidence showing the judgment copies were forged. These fake documents were used by private individuals to claim ownership of the land.
Earlier, a civil court had ruled in favor of Mohammed Taher Khan from Jahanuma, Hyderabad. The disputed land is located in Shamshabad Paiga Village, Shamshabad Mandal, in Ranga Reddy District and is worth hundreds of crores. HMDA has challenged this decision and filed an appeal in the High Court.
The suspicious judgment was said to be issued by Justice ND Patnaik on April 29, 1988. However, it was later found that Justice Patnaik was only appointed on December 28, 1988. Also, the case number mentioned in the documents did not exist in the High Court’s records.
Shocked by these findings, the High Court called the act a serious attempt to deceive the court. The judges have asked the Judicial Registrar to file a police complaint. They also told the state government to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into this case, as well as two other related cases already registered at the Charminar Police Station.
Until the matter is resolved, the court has ordered that neither side should make changes to the current status of the disputed land.
