Mahabubnagar: Two talented para athletes from Telangana have been selected to join the Indian team for the World Para Athletics Championships. This event will occur at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5.
Dr. Shekhar, President of the Para Athletics Association of Telangana and a resident of Mahabubnagar, shared the exciting news. He highlighted this as a significant achievement for the state, with its athletes gaining international recognition. Both athletes come from the Warangal district and will represent India in their respective events.
Jivanji Deepti is set to compete in the Women’s 400 meters (T20 category), while Akira Nandan will participate in the Men’s 400 meters (T35/38 category). Their involvement is expected to elevate Telangana’s status in global para sports and motivate many young individuals with disabilities to engage in athletics.
Dr. Shekhar expressed his joy over their selection, stating, “This is a proud moment for Telangana. We believe our athletes will excel on the world stage, bringing honor not only to the state but also to the entire country. Their journey will inspire future athletes aiming for the top.”
