Mahabubnagar: Two talented para athletes from Telangana have been selected to join the Indian team for the World Para Athletics Championships. This event will occur at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5.

Dr. Shekhar, President of the Para Athletics Association of Telangana and a resident of Mahabubnagar, shared the exciting news. He highlighted this as a significant achievement for the state, with its athletes gaining international recognition. Both athletes come from the Warangal district and will represent India in their respective events.

Jivanji Deepti is set to compete in the Women’s 400 meters (T20 category), while Akira Nandan will participate in the Men’s 400 meters (T35/38 category). Their involvement is expected to elevate Telangana’s status in global para sports and motivate many young individuals with disabilities to engage in athletics.

With anticipation building in Telangana, all eyes are on Deepti, a bronze medalist in last year’s Paralympics, and Nandan, who is expected to perform well at the upcoming championships.
