Hyderabad: Telangana is bracing for heavy rainfall over the next three days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the entire State. This alert also applies to Hyderabad, where cloudy skies and light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected until Wednesday. People have been advised to stay cautious, especially on Tuesday, as the weather could worsen.
The State has already seen significant rainfall. On Sunday, heavy showers hit Hyderabad and other districts. Yadadri Bhongir recorded the highest rainfall in the State with 103.3 mm, while Hyderabad’s Golconda area saw 91.3 mm, the highest in the city that day.
The ongoing southwest monsoon has brought substantial rain to Telangana. The State has received an average of 919 mm of rainfall, which is a 31 percent increase over the usual 703.6 mm. In Hyderabad, 780.4 mm of rain has been recorded, a 36 percent rise from the normal 575.5 mm. Nampally, in particular, has seen a 61 percent increase, with 920.6 mm compared to the typical 570.8 mm.
The IMD is keeping a close watch on the situation. They urge residents to take necessary precautions as the heavy rain is expected to continue in the coming days.
