Hyderabad: Universities in Telangana celebrated the 79th Independence Day with enthusiasm and a focus on national development. Events at Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU), Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), and Osmania University attracted many students, faculty, and important guests.
At PJTAU in Rajendranagar, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Aldas Janaiah raised the national flag. He spoke about India’s growth in agriculture, highlighting its self-reliance in food production and its strong export capabilities. Prof. Janaiah mentioned Telangana’s progress in agriculture, aligning with the “Rising Telangana” vision, and predicted its role in achieving a Developed India by 2047.
Prof. Janaiah urged scientists and students to address climate change. He announced plans to fill vacant Assistant Professor positions, build eight hostels for female students (with three ready next year), and start Civil Services coaching. He also addressed long-standing administrative vacancies, resolved within ten months of his leadership.
At JNTUH, Vice-Chancellor Prof. T. Kishen Kumar Reddy led the flag ceremony, honoring freedom fighters like Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, and Mahatma Gandhi. He encouraged youth to drive India’s global advancement and called for everyone to contribute to national progress. The event saw participation from university officials, faculty, and students.
Osmania University’s event at the historic Arts College celebrated its role in India’s freedom struggle. Vice-Chancellor Prof. M. Kumar reflected on the university’s legacy, including the “Vande Mataram movement,” and stressed equality and empowerment as true independence foundations. He focused on India’s young population to push the “Viksit Bharat” vision.
Prof. Kumar praised Telangana’s governance and economic achievements, noting the university’s NAAC A+ accreditation and a 43rd NIRF ranking. He highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, especially in the AI era, and reaffirmed the university’s dedication to inclusive excellence.
Throughout the campuses, cultural events and displays of the national flag showcased a unified spirit of patriotism and purpose, as Telangana’s educational institutions committed to shaping India’s future.
