A hotel in Bhadrachalam is becoming very popular with young people who usually eat street food. The hotel makes a special dish called ‘Pesarattu-Upma’. It is becoming famous in the town, which is known for its temple. Many people who visit the temple enjoy the dish too. The hotel was started by Sanka Bhadram, who used to make only Pesarattu-Upma for breakfast. After Sanka Bhadram passed away, his sons continued to make the dish in the same way. The hotel is very busy from 6 am to 11 am when it closes. People line up to buy the dish after they visit the temple in the morning. Nowadays, people who go on boat trips take parcels of breakfast dishes with them to eat on the boat.

The hotel uses an earthen oven with firewood to cook the dish, which gives it an authentic taste. They get the green gram from tribal farmers and add pieces of green chilli, ginger, and onions to the dough. They also serve a special chutney made with a special kind of chilli powder to make the dish even tastier. Even though many young people like to eat modern fast food, they are starting to enjoy traditional food like Pesarattu-Upma. One customer said that even expensive hotels cannot make such traditional, tasty, authentic and healthy food like Pesarattu-Upma.
