Hyderabad: The state government has made a significant change by removing E Vishnu Vardhan Reddy from his role as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of the Telangana Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC). K Shashanka, the Future City Commissioner, has been appointed to take over these responsibilities immediately.
Reddy was in charge of developing a large 450-acre IT zone at Hyderabad Central University near Kancha Gachibowli. However, his efforts faced setbacks when the Supreme Court halted the land acquisition due to concerns about harming the local biodiversity in the unofficial forest area around the university. Sources reveal that CM Revanth Reddy was displeased with Reddy’s handling of the situation, particularly the use of heavy machinery for tree removal, which drew criticism from civil groups and opposition parties.
To mitigate further issues, the Chief Minister decided to bring in a new official. To accelerate progress on the Future City project, P Mahendar has been appointed as the new Administrative Officer. Mahendar is a senior figure in the Municipal Administration and Urban Development, previously serving as Project Director of MEPMA in Khammam district. He has a track record of implementing various urban development programs under the previous BRS government.
Additionally, V Kranathi, Managing Director of the Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, has been temporarily assigned as Director of Mining and Geology, replacing Shashanka in this position. Meanwhile, P Katyayani Devi, the Additional CEO to SERP, will temporarily take on the role of Managing Director of the State Finance Commission.
