On World Environment Day, the head of TGSPDCL, Musharraf Faruqui, urged everyone to adopt energy-efficient and sustainable habits.
He emphasized that saving energy helps protect the environment. Switching from incandescent or CFL bulbs to LED lights can cut electricity use by 75-80%. To save more energy, he suggested setting ceiling fans to the right speeds and keeping air conditioners between 24-26°C, as advised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), and cleaning their filters every month.
Faruqui recommended using BEE Star-Rated Appliances with high-star ratings, like refrigerators, air conditioners, and washing machines, which use less electricity. Installing solar water heaters or rooftop solar panels can also reduce dependency on grid power. He noted that activating power-saving modes on computers, TVs, and other gadgets is crucial, especially in cities with high device usage.
