    Hyderabad: Komati Reddy Rajagopal Reddy of Congress has become the richest man in the state with assets worth Rs 458 crores. He filed his nomination for the Munugodu constituency on Friday and submitted an affidavit detailing his assets. According to the affidavit, his total assets amount to Rs 458.37 crores.

    Rajagopal Reddy’s movable assets include cash, bank deposits, and shares in Sushi Infra & Mining Limited worth Rs 239.31 crores. His wife, K Lakshmi, has assets worth Rs 4.18 crores. In terms of immovable assets, Rajagopal Reddy has properties worth Rs 108.23 crores, while his wife has properties worth Rs 48.60 crores, including agricultural and non-agricultural lands and commercial buildings.

    He also disclosed that he has debts amounting to Rs 4.14 crores. The affidavit also mentions that Rajagopal Reddy earned Rs 71.17 crores in 2022-23 and Rs 1.52 crores in 2021-22. Furthermore, he provided details of 16 contracts awarded to Sushi Infra & Mining Ltd by state governments, Singareni Collieries, Central Coalfields, and other states.

    Since his previous declaration of assets worth Rs 314 crores during the 2018 assembly elections, Rajagopal Reddy’s net worth has increased by more than 45%. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he declared assets worth Rs 66 crores.

    Rajagopal Reddy served as a Lok Sabha member from 2009 to 2014 and was elected to the Assembly from Munugodu in 2018. However, he later left the Congress and joined the BJP. He lost in the by-elections held in November last year. Recently, he rejoined the Congress and secured a ticket for Munugodu.

    Payla Shekhar Reddy of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is the second richest person in the state with assets worth Rs 227 crores. He represents the Bhuvanagiri Assembly constituency and is involved in real estate business. BRS MLA Marri Janardhan Reddy and Medak MP Dubbaka are partners with BRS candidate K Prabhakar Reddy.

    Prabhakar Reddy, who filed his nomination as a BRS candidate from Dubbaka, has assets worth Rs 197 crores. Despite recovering from stab wounds, he arrived in a wheelchair to file his nomination papers. His wife, Manjulatha, has assets worth Rs 9.41 crore. Prabhakar Reddy’s immovable assets are valued at Rs 84.63 crores, while his wife’s assets are worth Rs 96 crores. Their total debt amounts to Rs 12.79 crore. Janardhan Reddy, who is contesting from Nagarkurnool, has declared assets worth Rs 112 crores.
