Hyderabad: The Madhapur police have filed a case against three people for stopping a demolition by officials of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA). The incident took place at Sunnam Cheruvu in Guttala Begumpet on September 8.

The people involved in the illegal constructions are Venkatesh, a 35-year-old driver, his wife Lakshmi, a 28-year-old daily wage worker, and Venkatesh’s brother Naresh. They tried to stop the demolition by threatening to set themselves on fire. The three poured kerosene on themselves to prevent the officials from continuing with their work.

The case was filed after A Lakshminarayana, an assistant executive engineer, complained. He said the suspects’ actions made it impossible for him to do his job as a public servant. The police are now investigating the matter.
