Hyderabad: The PCC (Pradesh Congress Committee) is preparing to form its new State Executive Committee. As a result, many party members are now lobbying hard for different posts. B Mahesh Kumar Goud, who is playing a key role in the process, is focusing on resolving internal differences before finalizing the names for the committees.
According to sources, with local body elections approaching, it has become important for the party to strengthen its organization at the State level. To increase its chances of success, the party is not only identifying important leaders but also planning to give them key positions in the State Executive Committee and other areas. The newly appointed PCC Chief, Mahesh Goud, is determined to repeat the party’s success in the recent Assembly elections. He has started meeting with local leaders at Gandhi Bhavan and is also visiting different districts to understand the situation better.
A party leader mentioned that internal issues such as egos and insecurities are harming the party’s progress. Some members, who were unhappy with not getting the positions they wanted, have distanced themselves from party activities. To address this, Mahesh Goud is working hard to resolve these issues before the new committees are formed.
Mahesh Goud has already visited Warangal and Nizamabad combined districts to assess the situation. The PCC plans to form the State Executive Committee first, followed by District Committees. The previous committees have been scrapped, and the party aims to continue its tradition of having five working presidents, representing SC, ST, BC, Minority, and OC communities. Additionally, senior leaders will be given important roles such as the organizing secretary and campaign committee chairman. Other positions, including working presidents, vice presidents, general secretaries, executive committee members, and spokespersons, will be filled as well. Mahesh Goud plans to continue visiting districts this month to break down the differences between party leaders at various levels.
The previous committee, under the leadership of former PCC Chief A Revanth Reddy, had approved several important committees in December 2022, more than a year after he took charge. These included the executive committee, political affairs committee, and a list of 26 District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents, 24 vice presidents, and 82 general secretaries. The executive committee had 40 members, with Revanth Reddy as its chairman. The 22-member Political Affairs Committee (PAC) was headed by the AICC Telangana in charge at the time.
