The Telangana Recognised Schools Management Association (TRSMA) has asked the School Education Department for a 15% increase in school fees every year. They also want private schools to be grouped into four categories based on their fee structures.

In their request, they suggested dividing unaided private schools into four slabs: pre-primary, primary, upper primary, and high school. They also proposed that private schools charging less than ₹55,000 per year should be classified as budget private schools. These budget schools should be exempt from fee regulations and allowed to increase fees by 15% annually.

TRSMA President S. Madhusudhan explained that Telangana has around 11,500 private schools. He argued that regulating fees for all schools might lead to bureaucratic corruption and create difficulties in managing daily school operations. He also pointed out that there are no clear rules on how schools should collect fees from students who do not pay on time.

Another TRSMA member added that 10% to 20% of students in budget private schools fail to pay their fees every year. This makes it hard for schools to continue their operations. To solve this issue, the association wants the government to introduce clear guidelines on collecting fees from defaulters.
