Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has already bought 50 lakh metric tons of paddy from farmers and is on track to reach its target of 70 lakh metric tons soon. Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that another 20 lakh tons will be collected over the next two weeks.

During a video meeting with Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and all district Collectors, the Minister reviewed the paddy procurement process across the state. He shared that the government expects a total output of 129.35 lakh metric tons of paddy during this Rabi season.

Last year, by mid-May, the government had procured only 25 lakh metric tons. This year, the figure has already doubled, showing significant improvement in both production and purchase speed.
