Hyderabad residents have been alerted by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) about fake WhatsApp messages circulating from an unknown number. These messages falsely claim that water supply services will be cut off.

The messages, sent from mobile number 84271 56645, warn of disconnection at 9:30 pm due to unpaid bills from the previous month. They instruct recipients to call 9064953421 for help. Additionally, an APK file is sent via WhatsApp, which is suspected to be malware.

The HMWSSB clarified that they did not send these messages and labeled them as misleading. The issue has been reported to the Cyber Crimes Department for investigation. Officials stressed that all their communications are through verified channels.
