In Hyderabad, the wives of Telangana home guards held a protest at Indira Park’s Dharna Chowk. They were asking the government to make their husbands’ jobs permanent and to ensure that salaries are paid on time. This protest comes after similar demonstrations by the families of battalion police constables, showing that there are ongoing issues among law enforcement personnel and their families in the state.
The protesters demanded that home guard positions should be regularised and that wages should be paid promptly. As the protest grew, the police stepped in and detained the wives of the home guards, moving them away from the protest site.
Former minister and BRS MLA Harish Rao criticised the government’s handling of the situation. He noted that police families have been protesting frequently, which shows that there is widespread dissatisfaction within the police force.
Harish Rao pointed out that just a few days ago, the wives of TSGP police officers also took to the streets. He urged the government to fulfill its promises and protect the rights of these families. Rao expressed concern over the state’s law and order situation, suggesting that frequent protests reflect deeper issues. He questioned whether Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who also serves as the Home Minister, is properly addressing these concerns, hinting at possible “mismanagement” within the government.
