A workshop was held in Hyderabad by the State Forest Academy and Humane Society International/India to educate 80 forest officers on the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, and its recent amendment in 2022. The goal was to help officers better handle wildlife crimes like illegal trade, hunting, poaching, and human-animal conflicts.

The workshop aimed to provide forest officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to combat wildlife crimes effectively. Mousumi Gupta, Director of Government Affairs at Humane Society International/India, emphasized the importance of empowering officers with comprehensive knowledge of wildlife laws and illegal trade to enhance wildlife protection efforts.

The event also sought to promote networking and collaboration among forest officers, enforcement agencies, and conservation organizations to strengthen animal protection initiatives in India. This collaboration is crucial in protecting wildlife and combating illegal activities that threaten their survival.
