The conflict between the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces in Sudan has caused many Indians to become stranded. India plans to evacuate those who are in areas with lesser violence by road, while those in areas of continuous violence will be evacuated when the violence subsides. The Khartoum International Airport has been closed since the start of the conflict. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed officials to prepare contingency evacuation plans for about 3,000 Indian citizens stuck in the conflict-ridden country. Most of them are stranded in the capital Khartoum, which is the epicentre of the fighting. Ferocious battles between the Sudanese army and a paramilitary group have killed more than 400 people and left thousands wounded.
