Gadwal: An Integrated Market building in Aiza Municipality, built for ₹3 crore, is reportedly being misused due to government and municipal neglect, say senior BJP leaders.
BJP Aiza Town President Kampati Bhagat Reddy and former BJP Jogulamba Gadwal District President S. Ramachandra Reddy inspected the site near Ambedkar Chowk with local leaders and citizens to evaluate its condition.
The market, completed two years ago, aimed to provide a central space for selling vegetables, flowers, fruits, and meat. Despite significant public funding, the facility remains unused.
BJP leaders claim that due to municipal and governmental inaction, private individuals have encroached on government land in front of the market. These encroachers have set up permanent shops, renting them for profit, while the market, funded by taxpayers, stands idle and has become a hub for illegal activities.
S. Ramachandra Reddy informed the press that they have repeatedly appealed to municipal officials, the Additional Collector, and the District Collector to open the market for public use, but no action has been taken.
He urged the Municipal Commissioner and District Collector to act immediately to allocate the market space to local vendors, benefiting the community. He warned that without intervention, the area might face further deterioration and lawlessness.
He also highlighted the need for infrastructure like streetlights, CC roads, CCTV, drinking water, and other amenities to make the market operational and safe.
The BJP leaders threatened that if the market isn’t used soon, they would demand the resignation of the responsible Municipal Commissioner and District Collector for their failures.
Notable BJP members involved included Medikonda Bhimsen Rao, Pradeep Kumar, Bellankonda Nagaraju, Veeresh Goud, and several Booth Presidents like K. Rajasekhar, T. Narasimhulu, and others.
The BJP pledged to keep up the pressure on the authorities until the Integrated Market serves its intended purpose for the local community.
