Hyderabad: The Telangana government is taking big steps to improve internet access across the State. IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu announced that every home and office in all 33 districts will soon get high-speed internet through the Telangana Fiber Grid (T-Fiber) project.
This announcement was made on Thursday at the launch of the new T-Fiber corporate office in Begumpet. The Minister said that local cable operators will help provide internet and TV services even in remote areas. He also shared that television sets can now be used as computer monitors, helping students in rural areas access online learning.
So far, T-Fiber has connected 8,891 village panchayats across 424 mandals. Another 7,187 panchayats are ready to be connected. In 2024 alone, 30,000 government offices were linked to the network, and the goal is to reach 60,000 offices by 2027.
The Minister announced that T-Fiber services will now be known as T-NxT, marking a new phase of digital development in the State. During the event, nine agreements were signed with key business partners to speed up the rollout of services.
In addition, Sridhar Babu introduced a new logo for T-Fiber and launched Telangana’s own cloud platform. This secure system will store important government data within the State’s borders.
“This is not just about laying cables. It’s about connecting people, their ideas, and giving them new opportunities,” he said. He also released a Vision Document that outlines the future plans for digital growth in Telangana.
