    Asha activists in Gadwal submitted a petition to district health officials requesting special recognition for their work in the health department. They asked for priority consideration for ANM positions in the district.

    The activists highlighted their long service, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. They mentioned their training and urged that Asha workers who completed ANM training be given special consideration for the positions.

    During the pandemic, they risked their lives following medical orders without thinking about their families’ safety. They also mentioned their continued work on surveys and online services.

    District health officials responded positively to their petition and promised to forward their concerns to higher authorities.
