Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, raised questions about whether Indian laws apply to what he called the “duplicate Gandhi family.” He was referring to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Kumar criticized Congress protests held outside Enforcement Directorate (ED) offices across the country. These protests followed the chargesheet filed against Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. Kumar asked, “Are they above the Constitution?”
He accused Sonia and Rahul Gandhi of trying to gain control of the National Herald’s assets in a conspiracy. According to him, this issue first came to light during the UPA government. He pointed out that the Gandhis were granted bail without being arrested and questioned how Prime Minister Modi or the BJP had any role in it. He also urged Congress workers to protest outside Sonia Gandhi’s residence instead of ED offices, warning that everyone, including Sonia, could face legal action if found guilty.
Kumar alleged that Rahul Gandhi aimed to take over assets worth Rs 50,000 crore using the Young India brand under a project called “Fourth City.” He also questioned how the BJP could be linked to the case, which was originally filed by Subramanian Swamy.
He criticized the Congress leadership for not disciplining party members who used inappropriate language during the protests. He also responded to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s ongoing visit to Japan to attract investments, saying it would be as unsuccessful as the Davos summit. He claimed both Congress and the BRS were involved in corruption and were hiding the truth.
Kumar questioned why former Chief Minister KCR had not been issued a notice in connection with a reported scam in power procurement. He warned that if such issues were ignored, Telangana could face unrest similar to that in Bengal, and blamed Revanth Reddy for contributing to the tension.
Further, he accused the Majlis party of protesting against the Waqf Bill with financial help from Revanth Reddy. He warned that if the matter was not resolved, the Revanth-led government would be responsible for any resulting problems. Kumar alleged that families like the Owaisis were benefiting from Waqf properties, while poor Muslims were being denied their rightful benefits.
He criticized the Waqf Act, saying it was passed during the Congress rule and had become problematic. He claimed that in the name of Waqf, properties of temples, gurudwaras, Christian fishermen, and Lingayat farmers were being taken over.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar challenged the Chief Minister to investigate Waqf lands and finances in Telangana and to publish a white paper showing the assets, income, and spending of the Waqf Board. He also expressed concern that hospitals built on Waqf lands might be used as shelters for terrorists. He alleged that a meeting planned by Owaisi was being sponsored by Congress, despite Rahul Gandhi earlier asking the party to distance itself from the MIM.
Finally, he called on Congress and BRS corporators to vote based on their conscience in the upcoming local body MLC elections. He warned that if they chose not to vote, the people of Hyderabad would hold them accountable.
