Hyderabad: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy has strongly criticised the Congress and BRS parties for supporting the Majlis party. He accused the Majlis of exploiting people, committing crimes against women and children, and misusing community resources.
Speaking at a meeting with BJP workers ahead of the Hyderabad Local Bodies MLC elections on Friday, Reddy questioned why Congress and BRS are not contesting the elections. He said Rahul Gandhi and former Chief Minister KCR have shown weakness towards the Majlis and, therefore, have no right to criticise the BJP.
Reddy said the BJP is campaigning with a spirit of nationalism and is standing firmly against the Majlis party. He claimed that the Majlis party is spreading its influence beyond the Old City and into many areas of Telangana. He also accused Congress and BRS of secretly working with the Majlis to defeat the BJP.
He warned the people of Telangana that if they are not careful, the state could return to a situation similar to the oppressive rule of the Razakars. He mentioned alleged incidents where Majlis leaders took over Hindu homes in the Old City and said Congress and BRS are ready to sacrifice Telangana and Hyderabad for their own benefit.
Reddy explained that the BJP’s aim in these elections is not just to win, but to awaken the public and protect Hyderabad from the influence of the Majlis party. He described the BJP’s campaign as a fight against the Majlis party’s extreme views and illegal actions.
He criticised the previous BRS government, saying that development in Hitec City was mostly for show. According to him, real estate interests were given more importance than improving the city’s infrastructure, leading to bad roads and poor maintenance.
Reddy also pointed out the weak condition of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). He said there is not even enough money for basic needs like streetlights, and the government has failed to increase funds for civic improvements.
He urged the people to vote wisely to protect the city from the Majlis party. He said true development will only happen if a “double-engine” government (BJP at both state and central levels) comes to power in Telangana.
Reddy criticised Congress leaders for talking about foreign investments and questioned the impact of their efforts. He praised Prime Minister Modi’s government for bringing economic and tax reforms, fighting terrorism, and improving the country’s foreign policy.
He also said that under Modi’s leadership, India is becoming power-efficient. In the past, farmers had to stay near motors waiting for electricity, but things are now improving.
Reddy stressed that Hyderabad is more than just Hitec City. He said areas like Amberpet, Sanat Nagar, Malkajgiri, Dilsukhnagar, Gowlipura, Charminar, Nampally, Somajiguda, Khairatabad, and Kukatpally also need better facilities.
He ended his speech by accusing Congress, BRS, and the Majlis of working together to harm Telangana. He urged BJP workers to unite and help BJP candidate Gautam Rao win the Hyderabad local body MLC elections.
