Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has instructed officials to quickly resolve pending pension cases for freedom fighters and speed up the survey of enemy properties across India. At a high-level meeting in New Delhi, he set a deadline of August 31 to complete all pending pension files.
Officials from the Freedom Fighters and Rehabilitation (FFR) Department and the Custodian of Enemy Property for India (CEPI) shared updates on pension disbursement under the Swasthala Sainik Satkara Yojana (SSSY), enemy property auctions, and refugee rehabilitation.
The report showed that out of 26,623 pending pension files, over 13,000 have been processed, benefiting 12,212 people. For freedom fighters, 8,829 pension applications were pending, with 6,700 resolved and 2,103 beneficiaries identified. There are 12,800 enemy properties nationwide, with disputes on 1,427 properties resolved. Uttar Pradesh has over 1,300 of these properties. Currently, 616 properties are being auctioned, and 313 have been sold.
The Minister praised the progress but emphasized the urgency of resolving the remaining cases. He instructed the Joint Secretary of the FFR Department to contact state governments for necessary documents and deploy teams to speed up the pension process.
For enemy properties, Bandi Sanjay ordered immediate surveys and boundary marking. He requested a detailed report on enemy properties in Telangana and prioritized states with many such properties.
To ensure accountability, he plans to visit CEPI offices next month. The meeting included Joint Secretary (FFR), CEPI Custodian R. Prasanna, and other senior officials. The Home Affairs Ministry aims to honor freedom fighters and better manage enemy properties for national benefit.
