Hyderabad/Ahmedabad: A special gathering in Ahmedabad celebrated Hindi Day, highlighting India’s rich language and identity. Key figures like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union Justice State Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal attended the event, joined by others like Parliamentary Official Language Committee Deputy Chairman Mahtab and educationist Professor Vijay Pandya.
Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, delivered a significant speech. He described Hindi as more than just a language, emphasizing its role as a connector between the government and the people. Sharing his personal experience from Telangana, a region where Hindi isn’t commonly spoken, he credited Home Minister Amit Shah for making Hindi accessible in government work.
Speakers supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, stating that language is the essence of culture and national identity. Under his leadership, India is moving towards self-sufficiency, with local languages playing a crucial role. The National Education Policy now emphasizes learning in Indian languages, promoting inclusive education.
The event highlighted the impact of using Hindi and other Indian languages in fields like science and technology. Minister Sanjay Kumar pointed out that publishing research in native languages could spread essential knowledge to rural and underserved areas. This approach can democratize learning and increase public engagement.
The Official Language Department showcased efforts like the Hindi Shabd Sindhu Digital Dictionary, which now includes over 700,000 words, with 25,000 from other Indian languages. This initiative not only strengthens Hindi but also connects India’s diverse languages. The event concluded by reaffirming India’s dedication to linguistic respect, cultural pride, and inclusive governance.
