Hyderabad is preparing for a major spotlight during the Miss World 2025 celebrations. On May 13, the city will host a special Heritage Walk in the historic Old City, featuring the famous Charminar and vibrant Laad Bazaar.
More than 120 Miss World delegates from around the world will join the event. They’ll stroll through the lively streets of Laad Bazaar, meet local artisans, and experience the heart of Hyderabad’s culture. The walk will be broadcast live in over 150 countries, bringing global attention to the city’s rich history.
This event supports Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s goal to make the state a top global tourist destination. By showcasing its historic landmarks, the government hopes to attract more international visitors.
Laad Bazaar, with a heritage dating back 400 years to the Nizam era, is famous as the Bangle Capital. Its narrow streets are filled with shops selling colorful lacquer bangles, decorated with mirror work, beads, and embroidery. The market also offers pearls, handicrafts, and traditional items like Bidriware, calligraphy art, Ittar (perfume), and Quranic manuscripts.
During festivals like Ramadan and Eid, the bazaar comes alive with shoppers and celebrations, turning it into a cultural hotspot.
At the center of this historic area stands the iconic Charminar, built in 1591 by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah of the Qutb Shahi dynasty. This 56-meter tall monument, with its four towering minarets, was constructed to mark the end of a deadly plague and the founding of Hyderabad. It remains a stunning example of Indo-Islamic architecture and offers breathtaking views of the Old City and nearby Mecca Masjid.
Charminar is also under consideration for the World Heritage list, further affirming its global cultural value.
The Heritage Walk is part of a broader effort to use international events like Miss World to promote Telangana’s cultural legacy. The state is also planning to improve infrastructure around these heritage sites to welcome more tourists and shoppers from across the globe.
