Gadwal: In Jogulamba Gadwal district, the Bhim Army has criticized local revenue officials, particularly Tehsildars, for ignoring land issues affecting the poor and marginalized.
Macherla Prakash, who oversees Bhim Army activities in the former Mahabubnagar district, spoke to the press about the problem. He pointed out that despite the Bhoo Bharati Act clearly outlining solutions, officials are intentionally delaying resolutions for the needy.
Prakash mentioned that Tehsildars prioritize cases recommended by political figures and influential individuals, neglecting genuine issues faced by the poor. Many underprivileged individuals repeatedly visit government offices but face inaction and unclear responses. Even the weekly Prajavani meetings at the district collectorate each Monday have not effectively addressed their concerns.
Moreover, Prakash claimed that lands such as assigned, ceiling-surplus, donated, and even government properties are being illegally occupied, with revenue officials ignoring these violations. Lands in restricted categories are allegedly being registered unlawfully without proper checks.
He stressed that while those with political connections receive quick resolutions, the poor are left without help, calling this a form of systemic injustice. Bhim Army warned that if these land issues aren’t resolved soon, they might start a district-wide protest.
Prakash urged local authorities to address land disputes fairly, legally, and promptly, especially for marginalized groups, to prevent potential public unrest.
The Bhoo Bharati Act was designed to simplify land records and settle disputes quickly. However, its implementation has faced delays and bureaucratic challenges in many areas.
