The BJP Legislative Party Leader A Maheshwar Reddy criticized the decision to recall 20 lakh textbooks, calling it ill-advised. He said the negligence of officials has burdened the government’s finances. He stated that it was not right for the government to recall the books meant for distribution on June 12 because they contained the names of the former chief minister and education minister in the foreword of the Telugu textbooks from Class I to X. Reddy called for action to be taken against those responsible for the reprinting costs.
He urged the state government to follow the example of Andhra Pradesh, which distributed textbooks with the photo of the previous chief minister. Reddy emphasized that tearing pages with the National Anthem and Pledge would be disrespectful to the country and its Constitution. Additionally, he questioned why the state government had not fulfilled its six guarantees six months after taking power. Reddy pointed out that the pension increase promised to elderly, widows, disabled individuals, and others had not been implemented by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s government.
Moreover, Reddy demanded that the state government address the issues faced by Asha workers. He reminded officials of Congress’ promises to provide jobs for field assistants during Asha workers’ protests and called for an increase in Asha workers’ remuneration to Rs 18,000 per month.
